AUDITION NOTICE FOR 

'HENRY VI'

Following the success of last year's Macbeth, we are excited to announce auditions for the Rondo Theatre Company's summer production: HENRY VI directed by Nic Proud

Audition Dates:

Friday 3 March, 5.30-7pm
Sunday 5 March, 7-8.30pm

The Play:

'This brawl today, shall send, between the red rose and white, a thousand souls to death and deadly night.'

Henry V is dead, leaving a child on the throne and the kingdom split assunder.

Many different factions move rapidly to secure the crown in this quick-paced version of Shakespeare's Henry VI, bringing all three plays into an action-packed 1hr 20min performance.

The play will be performed by 8 actors in traditional costume, some actors multi-roling 2/3 parts each. All characters can be played by male or female actors. All cast members must be over 18.

Named characters:

Henry VI - A child king, incapable of ruling his kingdom. Artistic, but cowardly.

Richard Plantagenet - a contender for the throne, noble and honest, unlike his children.

Margaret - a princess of France, later the Queen of England. Ruthless, powerful and manipulative.

Warwick - the Lion of England and King-maker. Powerful and noble.

Duke of Gloucester - the Lord Protector - noble to a fault, but gullible.

Duchess of Gloucester - Wife to the protector. [Role doubled with other named character]

Suffolk - the main protagonist for the throne, deceitful and dangerous.

Richard - the future Richard III, son of Richard Plantagenet.

Edward - the future Edward IV, son of Richard Plantagenet.

Mortimer - Father to Richard Plantagenet, a dying man. [Role doubled with other named character]

Other roles - murderers, soldiers, shepherds, messengers etc. all doubled with named characters

Wednesday 2 - Saturday 8 July at the Rondo Theatre in Bath
