News from the Committee

Hello and a very happy new year from the Rondo Theatre Company; we are very excited to share with you all our exciting news as we begin our 2026 programme!

Most importantly, we have had a bit of a shake-up within our team behind-the-scenes! Following our last AGM of 2025 we formally announced the new Rondo Committee for 2026/27:
  • Alex Latham (Chair)
  • Von Paulley, (Vice-chair)
  • Matt Nation (Treasurer)
  • Toby Skelton (Secretary)
  • Josie Mae-Ross (Marketing and social media lead)
  • Meg Robertson
We also want to say a heartfelt goodbye and an enormous thank you to our former Chair/Secretary Lana Wright, who has overseen the Rondo Theatre Company over the past two years with incredible tenacity, resilience and undaunted passion. She is now moving on to bigger and better things and we wish her all the very best.

From the Chair of the Rondo Theatre Committee, Alex Latham:
I’m delighted to be taking over as chair of RTC, and excited for the work that lies ahead. While Lana Wright’s steady and compassionate work in the role leaves big shoes to fill, I know from experience what a collective and supportive team we are, beyond any one person, and I know that will continue.
Having been involved in local theatre for around ten years, my first role with the company was on ‘Tales from the Jazz Age’ in the summer of 2018. In that time, I’ve worked as a stage manager and increasingly as a lighting and sound designer. Through the hiatus and uncertainty of Covid, there were times when I questioned whether I’d be able to return to the company, so being asked to join the committee and subsequently taking over as chair has been immensely gratifying.
For the new committee in 2026, we’ve opted to introduce a vice chair role, with Yvonne Paulley stepping up to fill this position. We're also delighted to welcome Megan Robertson onto the committee, joining Matt Nation, Josie Mae-Ross and Toby Skelton, and together we offer a wealth of experience.
There’s a tendency for working in theatre to be a transient experience; intense bursts of working together, bookended by long gaps. One thing I love about this company (inside and outside of the committee), is the regularity and cohesiveness beyond that. Through our productions, play-readings, and other socials and events, I appreciate how much it feels like a community, with or without the commitment of being cast in a show.
It’s great to be part of a team keen to build on the strength of previous seasons, alongside an openness to move in new directions. Last year saw us host an open invitation for directors to pitch what would become our 2026 season. The first of these productions opens next month, alongside the continuation of monthly play-readings and work gathering pace to revamp the venue. It feels like an exciting time for the company, and it’s really satisfying to be a part of that.

Coming soon to the Rondo Theatre:

Underdog: The Other Other Brontë

by Sarah Gordon

Wednesday 25th - Saturday 28th March 2026
at the Rondo Theatre, St. Saviours Road, Bath, BA1 6RT

Charlotte. Emily. Anne. Genius is relative.

The Victorian literary world is a boys' club, and the Brontë sisters must fight for their place at the table - and not just with the establishment. Buckle up: Charlotte has some confessions to make about why she has literary icon status, while Anne is remembered as the 'other' Brontë...
This wild, irreverent, funny play takes the literary legends off their pedestals and shows us three very real women: brilliant sisters who love fiercely but aren't above a bit of sibling rivalry as they strive for recognition and legacy.

Social play reading:

Lysistrata

by Aristophanes

Tuesday 17th March 2026, 6.30pm for a 7pm start
at the Rondo Theatre, St. Saviours Road, Bath, BA1 6RT

A bit about the play...
It's a war on all fronts for the Athenian army when the women of the city stage a protest like never before. But who will prove the greater combatant? The Spartan army or the soldier's spouses?

Described as the 'original sex comedy', Aristophanes' classic takes the themes of war, peace & gender politics and points a wry and condescending finger at each.
War! ~ Huh! ~ What is it good for? This play is something a little different for us and marks the final event in our programme of socials co-hosted by our pitch directors from 2025. So welcome Connor Palmer who'll be leading this event with us.

All are welcome at our social play readings, where we'll read the play in full, script in hand. There will be breaks to top up teas, discuss the text and dream up staging and casting! There's no pressure to read if you don't want to but everyone will get the chance to regardless of age/ gender/ etc.
If you think you might be late - come anyway! These events are very relaxed and we'd love for you to join us.
If you have any access needs / accommodations, don't hesitate to let us know and we'll do our best to support you.
