Social play reading:
Constellations
by Nick Payne
Tuesday 22 April, 6pm for a 7pm start
at the Rondo Theatre, St. Saviours Road, Bath, BA1 6RT
All are welcome to our unrehearsed play readings where we get together to read and discuss a play, as well as have a chat and some snacks. Feel free to bring some nibbles and a drink to share - there will be time for socialising and discussing the script as well as reading.
(If you think you might be late, come any way! You will still have the opportunity to read.)
Our second play reading of 2025 will be 'Constellations' by Nick Payne.
Nick Payne's Olivier award winning play 'Constellations' explores the multiverse theory and the possibilities of love and fate. This beautiful two-hander looks at how even the smallest change in our lives can dramatically alter the course we take. Please note the play includes strong language, discussions of euthanasia, acts of physical and domestic violence and discussion of death and declining health.
From the blurb... A quantum physicist and a beekeeper meet at a barbecue. they hit it off, or perhaps they don't. They go home together, or maybe they go their separate ways. In the multiverse, with every possible future ahead of them, a love of honey could make all the difference.

Coming soon to the Rondo Theatre:
The Taming of the Shrew
by William Shakespeare
Wednesday 18 - Saturday 21 June 2025, 7.30pm
at the Rondo Theatre, St. Saviours Road, Bath, BA1 6RT
Lucentio wants Bianca. Hortensio wants Bianca. Gremio wants Bianca. None of them can have her until Bianca’s brother – Katherine – is married.
But Katherine is not easily tamed, with his sharp tongue and violent outbursts. Is anyone up for the challenge? Enter the charmingly terrifying Petruchio, a woman who has never met a boundary she will not cross to tame a shrew.
The Taming of the Shrew takes on a daring new life in this gender queered production, where comedy and discomfort intersect. In a world where Petruchio is a boisterous woman and Kate is a shrewish man, this bold reimagining explores the power dynamics at the heart of Shakespeare’s comedy while unpacking how language shapes our understanding of gender and control. The Rondo Theatre Company has flipped the script, and we invite you to laugh and reflect on the complexities of gender by re-examining the ways comedy can reveal uncomfortable truths about societal power dynamics.
