Social play reading:

Pride and Prejudice

by Jane Austen, adapted by Simon Reade

Tuesday 9th September 2025, 6pm for a 6.30pm start
at the Rondo Theatre, St. Saviours Road, Bath, BA1 6RT

Because a Bath theatre-maker, in possession of some free time, MUST be in want of a play reading...

Gear up for the Jane Austen Festival and celebrate 250 years of the author with this 2009 adaptation of 'Pride and Prejudice' by Simon Reade.
This is the first in a programme of RTC play readings co-hosted by our members, so say a warm welcome to Andy Cork who will be taking us through the Hertfordshire countryside and the grandeur of Pemberley.

A bit about the play...
First impressions can be tough and when Elizabeth Bennet encounters Mr Darcy for the first time it's certainly not love at first sight. But when a cacophony of sisters, meddling aunts, the most unsuitable suitors and a mother whose nerves outnumber them all throw the pair together time and time again, Darcy and Elizabeth come to realise - pride really does come before a fall!

Join us for an evening handsome enough to tempt anybody and explore this classic novel, it's nuances and it's comedy.
Bring some snacks to share and pop on your best bonnet as we kick off the autumn season with style!

All are welcome at our social play readings, where we'll read the play in full, script in hand. There will be breaks to top up teas, discuss the text and dream up staging and casting! There's no pressure to read if you don't want to but everyone will get the chance to regardless of age/ gender/ etc.
If you think you might be late - come anyway! These events are very relaxed and we'd love for you to join us.
If you have any access needs / accommodations, don't hesitate to let us know and we'll do our best to support you.

Let us know you're attending by emailing therondotheatrecompany@gmail.com

Coming soon to the Rondo Theatre:

The Master & Margarita

by Mikhail Bulgakov, adapted by Edward Kemp

Wednesday 26th - Saturday 29th November 2025
at the Rondo Theatre, St. Saviours Road, Bath, BA1 6RT

Strangers, lovers, devils. 1930s Moscow is full of strange folk. But who is the woman crying over her bouquet of yellow flowers? What the hell happened at the Arts Theatre last night? And… is that a human sized cat?

Based on Mikhail Bulgakov’s posthumously published novel 'The Master and Margarita', The Rondo Theatre Company invites you on a swirling journey of captivating surrealism featuring romance, devil-pacts and, of course, a play within a play (this time with shadow puppets!). If you think you know Russian fiction, think again!

News from our charity performance

We're thrilled to share that this year's annual charity performance - our summer production of 'The Taming of the Shrew' - raised a total of £1160! That's £580 each for our two chosen charities - Not A Phase and the Revamp the Rondo fundraiser.

Not A Phase is a trans-led, nationwide charity committed to uplifting and improving the lives of trans+ adults, through awareness campaigning, social projects and funding trans+ lead initiatives. The charity aims to give the trans+ and gender non-conforming community space to thrive, whilst working with organisations on D&I strategies to promote positive change.

Revamp the Rondo seeks to replace the well-loved auditorium seats, as well as make other building improvements, at the Rondo Theatre. The Rondo has, since 1989 been a place for nurturing local talent, a home for community theatre groups, and a venue for the best touring theatre, stand-up comedy and music.

This production was part of Queer Bath, a celebration of LGBTQ+ arts, culture, heritage and history in museums and venues across Bath led in partnership with Bath Arts Collective, WIG, and Bath’s museum & heritage community.

Thank you to everyone who bought a ticket, a programme, made a donation - and thank you to the fantastic team who produced the show.
