A hilarious and shocking romp through theatrical history, as the Rondo becomes a seventeenth century theatre for a moving and funny play which shows that the exploitation of women in entertainment is nothing new.
This is the story of the first professional actresses to appear on the English stage, at the command of a monarch with an eye for a pretty girl. With historical characters such as Nell Gwyn and the Earl of Rochester, follow their stories of success and tragedy, and see how female performers have been fighting to be taken seriously as actors with spirit and humour since the earliest days.
